Before we can discuss how to be well naturally, we should outline what wellness actually looks like. To be clear, wellness does not refer to physical or mental health alone. Instead, it encompasses a broad scope of components all working together to make – or break – your holistic health.
In last Friday’s Live, Doc discussed what it means to be well naturally then listed some steps you can take to feel better inside and out. Click the link below to hear it from the Doc himself or keep reason for a detailed look at what it means to be well naturally.

Primary Components of Holistic Wellness
There are four primary components to holistic wellness: diet, movement, mental health, and connection. Each facet is crucial for well-being; if even one falls short then the whole system could topple over. As such, if you want to maintain wellness naturally, pay close attention to each of the following.
Diet
Food is the fuel your body needs to perform. If you help it meet its nutritional demands, your body will perform much better than if your diet is lop-sided. However, proper nutrition for you will likely look different than proper nutrition for your neighbor because we all have unique bodies and nutrient demands.
As such, the first step to be well naturally is to consider what a good diet looks like for you then make necessary modifications. Notably, things like age, activity level, and sex can alter nutrient demands. However, generally speaking, the cleaner the food is, the better it is for you. In other words, the more direct your food source is from the earth, the better it probably is for you, too.
Movement (Function)
Regular exercise helps keep your body fit, which makes it easier to perform daily tasks and helps you recover faster from illness. What’s more, moving the body also helps boost mood by releasing serotonin, improving sleep, and boosting self-confidence. However, forcing yourself to move (for example, making yourself perform exercises you don’t enjoy) can make it harder to maintain consistency. As such, the best way to improve movement is to engage in healthy, body-moving activities that you actually enjoy. Dancing, gardening, or walking groups are easy ways to add movement to your self-care routine.
Mental Health
Mental health is incredibly important for one’s overall well-being. Unfortunately, about 20 percent of adults experience mental health problems in any given year, and 1 in every 25 suffer from serious mental health disorders, according to the CDC. And when mental health suffers, so do other areas of wellness. It’s much harder to eat well and exercise when you’re depressed, for example, and hard to socialize when you have anxiety.
Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to minimize mental health discomfort, like exercising and eating right. Discussing your mental health problems with trusted support systems (friends, therapists, ect.) can also help. Most importantly, though, is to be honest with yourself if you are suffering from mental health problems, especially if they last more than a few days. Know when to seek help and reach out to friends or supportive communities if you need help getting over that hump. Supplementing your diet with CBD products might also help bust the blues, at least enough to get you off the couch and into the presence of allies.
Connection
The final step to be well naturally is connection. To be clear, connection can refer to friends, communities, projects, hobbies, or anything else you connect with that brings you joy. Connection helps keep us grounded, provides us with a sense of purpose, and brings joy to our everyday lives. In other words, connection gives us a reason to get out of bed, to take care of ourselves, and to get excited to experience another day. To find connection, join local meetup groups, experiment with different hobbies, or simply take a stroll around the park (without your headphones in) and smile at strangers passing by.
When and How to Supplement
The goal to be well naturally seems simple enough – until it isn’t. If one of the wellness components listed above is out of balance, the rest may suffer, as well. If this is the case with you, then consider adding CBD to your daily routine. Notably, CBD could improve many facets of wellness. For example, it can boost mood, reduce pain, improve sleep, regulate metabolism, and minimize stress related to trying new things.
